I’ve linked several smart plugs via Smartlife and enabled the power consumption sensors, and this works great. But I noticed that a couple don’t report data. Even in the Smartlife app, the energy consumption always displays 0 mA and 0 W despite the devices being on and functioning. These devices all have one thing in common - they use AC power adapters with plastic ground pins.
Does anyone know if this is expected or not, and is there anything I can do to get the monitoring to work? I checked on the Amazon pages I purchased from and there is no mention of any exclusions when it comes to energy monitoring.
Thanks for replying Francis - I suspected this explanation too so I tested a double adapter with 2 devices with AC adapters - a DAB radio and a lamp - the lamp alone is definitely over 7W. Still no joy. My gut tells me it is something to do with the adapters and DC devices but I could be off the mark and I’m certainly no sparky!
Don’t know, how Smartlife behaves, in Zwave ecosystem it is common, that the report accuracy is set quiet low in factory settings in favor of low data traffic.
The settings can be altered by user to much more accuracy, which, understandably, generates more traffic on the network.
But yes, all my plugs do see even 1 Watt after altering the settings.
