Smartir deprecated? Broken in 2021.7.1

Hi. I’m trying to control an LG-ish mini split AC system via an esp32 board using esphome. I’ve tried the ir_climate_lg platform but the pulses from the unit’s remote appear to be quite different in length compared to the ones being generated by the esp32.
What is the recommended / most supported way to control one of these systems and IR in general?

I’ve tried smartir which looked promising, but it is not recognized

smartir is a custom component.

Perhaps the developer did not see the months of deprecation warning & add a version to the manifest file. That deprecation changed to denying components without a version.

Or, you could have checked, and noticed that it had that added 5 months ago…
