One day left before the SmartThings integration stops working for non-paying users. I used the integration to keep track of my parent’s smart devices without dealing with their clunky smartphone app. The HA integration was simple, reliable, and efficient. What a waste.

Not that this wasn’t well known or expected…
… contributes to the “disposable smart home” phenomenon, where the utility and interoperability of hardware are contingent upon manufacturer-controlled pricing models and API availability.
@mikla90 about the bad end line. I broke a PEM file on purpose to see when OpenSSL says that (3.6.4 here, checked with openssl asn1parse). I got it from a blank line inside the base64 part, and from a cert and a key joined with no newline between them. Windows line endings and a missing last newline gave no error, and a UTF-16 file gave no start line instead. So I’d look for an empty line in the file, or a key pasted right after the cert. Also current LocalThings (I’m on 0.31.0) doesn’t ask for pem files first. It tries its own self-signed cert, and only if the appliance refuses that cert it offers a pre-shared key or the CA. The handshake I can’t help with. My washer refuses right at the first hello with handshake_failure, same on 0.31.0 today, and setup just stops there. The setup text says some appliances take a pre-shared key instead and LocalThings can’t get that key itself.
@dualtronic one data point from after the date. My SmartThings integration still gets updates as of Oct 3, 04:45 UTC. The fridge power sensor got 109 updates on Oct 1 and 75 on Oct 2 (UTC days). The week before it was 72 to 106 a day. On Oct 2 there was a gap of about 7 hours with no updates, then it came back by itself. That sensor also had 8 gaps of 1 to 8 hours in the last 11 days of September. HA also called a SmartThings scene 9 times on Oct 2, and the log has no SmartThings errors for that day. I haven’t paid for anything. My account is in Korea, so I don’t know if it’s the same everywhere, or if it’s just not switched on yet.
