Snapshots - Are they a complete backup/image?

As the title says.

If I take a new SD card, put the latest Hass.io image on it, boot it up and then restore snapshots from another installation will the new one be identical?

I know it includes all the yaml files but does it also take a snapshot of all other add-ons and configurations e.g. DuckDNS, Samba. mqtt etc?

Yep.

Cool eh?

Very.
And thank you.

Including the ZWAVE network? i know for sure at some point in the past it did not include the zwave networks so i had to add all the nodes again. Or maybe it was an error on my side then.

I have restored from a snapshot a few times and Seaver’s has never been an issue.

Pay attention to the usb path if you use a aeotec stick or similar. That can easily break the new setup.

Can I use a snapshot to migrate from a pi to a proper computer?

Yes, I have moved to and from using snapshots.

Some things to keep in mind.

Some add-ons, integrations, are platform dependent and may not exist or require tweaking to adjust for the new environment.

Add-ons will not automatically load on the new machine if the repository is not added.

Thanks, I’ll give it a go.
I have an i3 doing nothing that I will try this on
