SNZB-06P - Range Issues

I’m using two Sonoff SNZB-06P presence sensors. They’re a neat idea—much cheaper than traditional mmWave units yet miles ahead of basic PIRs, as long as you get the placement and sensitivity right.

One sensor sits right beside my Zigbee coordinator, the other in the room next door. After a few months the farther unit began dropping offline, even though its link-quality stayed around 80–100. Swapping the two proved the hardware was fine; the fault followed the location, so it’s clearly about range.

Sonoff support hasn’t been much help. They keep asking me to mount the sensor “steady, facing open space” and insist the LQI must be above 130. In practice, the next room just isn’t good enough.

I’ve since moved to an Aqara mmWave sensor, but I’d still like to put an SNZB-06P in the garage. It sits right beside a mains-powered Zigbee router (smart plug), yet it insists on connecting straight to the coordinator. After a reset it links once (LQI ≈ 26) and then drops offline again.

Has anyone else found that the SNZB-06P refuses to hop through repeaters? Any fixes for this range limitation?

Setup: Z2M with an SLZB-06 (Ethernet), latest firmware and Z2M versions.

Thanks in advance!

Does not say much. 20250321 ? 20240710 ?

Sorry, wasn’t obvious.

SLZB-06 OS 2.9.2 / Zigbee Coordinator: 20250325
Zigbee2mqtt version: 2.4.0

I only find 20250321 on koenk github, and that is still not official released. So maybe try with 20240710

Hi Francis,

20250325 is SMLIGHT’s version. Zigbee Firmware release note 20250325 | SMLIGHT Official Homepage

I downgraded to 20250321 just to be sure but it didn’t change anything. I can’t use 20240710 as it had some issues with my current SMLIGHT firmware.

Regardless, this problem started early this year and I was on 20240710 at the time. So I don’t think it’s firmware-specific.

Thanks,
