Solaredge battery draining despite PV, AC and remote set when charging car on octopus go

I am using MODBUS TCP integration and have set though an automation storage control mode to REMOTE and then storage default mode to CHARGE FROM AC AND PV in an attempt to stop my solar edge batteries from discharging when i plug in my EV to my Zappi charger and pick up one of the cheap slots from Octopus intelligent go. This seems to work for colleagues who have done the same but my battery continues to discharge. Difference is that i have two inverters and two batteries but they are chained together so i thought modbus TCP integration would work - would it be any different on modbus multi ?

How are your inverters and batteries 'chained' together?

Do you have unique Modbus addresses for each of your devices?

The inverters are chained using the rs485 bus with unique IDs. I am connected to the leader and can see both batteries
