Solution (Workaround) for Zigbee/ZHA devices stuck in "Interview Complete. Configuring."

Thanks! I’ve definitely let go of some great devices before… :frowning: Hitting that button every 1-2s really worked. Shame that most devices does not have this in their manual.

Thanks! I was about to return the IKEA Parasoll door/window sensors but I’m glad I’ve found your post!

Had an issue with Sonoff snzb-01 that would get to configure and not go any further. Spent a while trying to get it to work, new battery etc. Nothing. Then tried this approach, found it in the devices but still didn’t work. So, deleted it and then re-discovered it and it works fine now. Many thanks for the info. Much appreciated.

This is a good workaround, but surely the “stuck” state isn’t the most desirable or good for users, right?

Can we potentially see a path to some automatic handling of such states? For example whatever the reload of the integration is doing, provide a manual way to do that same thing for the device in question after 30 seconds of the step being stuck? Or simply notify the user they should delete the device and try again at that time?

Infinite waiting is rarely the right state to display, so I bet there could be a better approach.

There’s no automatic way of waking up a battery device at a hardware level. It’ll go to sleep whenever it feels like, and whatever zigbee integration you’re using has no way of knowing whether it’s done of it’s simply snoozing.

Read through the replies above - most of these issues are caused by the device falling asleep once the pairing process starts. Making sure you press the buttons on battery devices periodically is a low-effort way of keeping them awake for long enough to send all the data they need to during the pairing process.

What is the best way for the ikea GU10 Zigbee lights ?

Once a blue moon I can change the colour but then they wont talk to Zigbee stick and I cant interview them.

I tried the power on and off 6 times and they flash but that doesnt work either

They are on my outside light and I have a zigbee plug on the inside wall to try and help.

Thanks

Thank you this helped. I was struggling to pair a Badring water sensor to my coordinator, It never showed up. I belieave the device went to sleep before zha was done with it. I tried pushing the button and activating the alarm to wake it up but didn’t work. I was a little confused about how to reset zha intergation. What i found that worked was entering pairing mode on the water sensor by pressing the button 4 times, Cick add device in zha, when the red light on the water sensor stops, I reloaded the adapter by clicking the 3 dots where all the devices are listed in zha intergation and click “reload”.
