I use the new Home Assistant backup system and I backup locally, to my NAS and to Google Drive. To install the Google Drive integration, I had to create a developer project, get an Oauth client, get a client ID and client secret. Once I did that stuff, it was pretty simple to add the Google Drive integration.
But about once a week, it tells me i have to re-authenticate, re-link Google Drive with my HA project. I like the new backup system, but I’m sure I’m doing something wrong. I can’t be the only one having this issue. Anyone know what this happens and how to deal with it?
Did you change the publishing status of your project to “In production”? If it’s still “Testing” you will have to re-authenticate every week. Once you change to “In production” it becomes permanent.
I remember actually setting it to testing on purpose because I recall posts where people said it had to be on testing, but perhaps I misread. I will make the change and I thank you for your response.
I did some reading, it seems there are sometimes verification requirements that can take a significant period of time if it’s production. Does anyone of this thread have experience with creating these credentials for a home assistant integration?
Just to close this topic, I changed to production, it did warn me that there might be further verification required based on scope (don’t know what that means), but after clicking OK, it didn’t ask for anything else and now I expect it will no longer need re-authorization.
My project is set to production, but I still had to re-authenticate after the 7 days. Trying it another week to see how it goes, but I wanted to check if yours worked.
resurrecting this with a question: I’m having the same issue. The publishing status for my developer project oauth is Testing. I am aware that clicking Publish would probably fix my issue, however I get the following warning. What does publishing do at this point? I haven’t actually created an app, just credentials for HA to access my Google account. Nothing gets listed to the play store, or give anyone else access to this project does it?
this fix seems to have worked, but my Nest protect integrations still expire and this requires a periodic issue token and cookie. Do you know if there’s a fix for this?
