I recently bought a TILT-ZWAVE5 because the zooz tilt sensor are forever outof stock.
I imagine this would be pretty simple to set up to check the state of a garage door but I am running into a lot of issue and i need some advice on what i am doing wrong.
first of. after adding the sensor i couldn’t figure out what entity to use since the only ones that were available initially were intrusion and cover removed. none work as expected.
I ended up having to enable sensor.tilt_garage_alarm_level and use that in my garage cover.
This turns out to be very unreliable. detection seems to be a hit or miss. So I have the following questions:
1 - which entity should I be using?
2 - are these tilt sensors just not that reliable?
3 - has anyone use them to monitor a garage door and could you please share your config?
4 - am I just a big idiot and did all this wrong?
EDIT:
Turns out this was just a user error. for my testing I was tilting the sensor back instead of forward. Tilting it back result on occasional detection of the movement hence my inconsistencies. -facepalm-
ended up using tilt_garage_intrusion on|off and that worked great.
