Has anyone successfully paired a: Schlage Z-Wave Deadbolt (BE469 C) to an Aeon Labs Aeotec Gen 5 Z-Stick (ZW090) using the latest Hass.io on a Pi 3 Model B? I clicked: Add Node Secure in the web interface but the Aeon Z-Stick did not blink like it normally does in pairing mode, it just continued to blink like it always does.
Before you start make sure you have set a random Z-Wave network key in your Configuration file
Remove Aeotec Gen 5 Z-Stick from Raspberry Pi and bring Z-Stick into close proximity of Schlage. Unpair Schlage by holding Z-Stick button until it rapidly flashes yellow and use unpairing method in Schlage instruction manual;
Plug Z-Stick back into Raspberry Pi (it might be best to just unplug power and plug it back in on Raspberry Pi). Reset Schlage to default settings using method in instruction manual;
I ended up plugging my Raspberry Pi into a USB battery pack so I could take it into close proximity of the Schlage lock. Click “Add Node Secure” in “Configuration” --> “Z-Wave” in the Hass.io interface then unplug network cable and take to close proximity of Schlage, then use pairing method in Schlage instruction manual.
Now the confusing part is the Z-Stick’s lights do not indicate it has been put into any kind of secure pairing mode but it has. After secure pairing you will see the Z-Stick’s lights begin to flash differently than normal pairing indicating it has securely paired with the Schlage. You may need to restart the Hassio and Heal the Z-wave network but your Schlage should appear in the interface. Hope this helps anyone that has struggled to get this to work!
Thanks for these tips, however it’s just not working for me. I’ve tried it about 50 times! One difference I’m seeing is that my lights never change on my z stick. They just keep flashing the same colors no matter if I’ve entered secure pairing mode or not. Do the lights change as soon as you enter pairing mode? Or only after successfully pairing? I’ve had no problem pairing other Zwave devices, but this Schlage seems to have some major issues!
Also, after doing a factory reset, did you go through the initial self test procedure before pairing?
The lights on the Z-Stick never change or indicate it’s in any kind of pairing mode…so it’s a little confusing. However, in my last post I mentioned the Z-Stick lights begin flashing differently after it has indeed paired with the Schlage. Are you leaving the Z-Stick plugged into your RPi or other device and taking it into close proximity of the Schlage? I do not recall performing the initial self test either.
So I think I figured out my problem. I looked at the back of my Z stick and see that it is operating off of what appear to be European frequencies, not US! Yikes, how did Amazon even let me buy this thing in the US?!?
Anyway, my only other Zwave device was purchased from the same seller and of course that worked because it too is the wrong frequency! I just ordered the Husbzb-1 stick which I’ve heard good things about.
