Sonoff 433 MHz RF bridge problems flashing RF chip

I was trying to be able to control my 433 MHz devices using HA and I bought the Sonoff 433 MHz RF (R2 V2.2). First I set it up as an esphome device and HA would detect it fine. However, I could not make it read any 433 MHz signals using the three remotes I have (for garage doors etc).

I then stumbled upon this article on how to flash the RF chip on the Sonoff board.

I am able to connect to the board using an esp32 dev board and I seem to connect fine, but when I try to erase the chip it returns status 4 and fails:

Handshake succeeded
Status: 0
Success
Chip read: 0xA
Connected…
Returning to idle state…
erase
Erasing chip…
Status: 4
Other error
Chip erase FAILED

signature
Read chip type…
Status: 0
Success
Chip read: 0xA

Does anyone know how I can get past this error and erase the chip so that I can flash the RF chip?

That is a github post in a repo with an issues category. Have you looked at current issues or asked there as well?

Thanks for pointing out that I missed the obvious part… :face_with_spiral_eyes:

I will see if the advice in the issue regarding the erase problems will help me out.

In case someone else stumbles upon this post and have the same problems, the solution for me was to downgrade the esp32 board library as stated here.
