SONOFF Hydro ONE BSP (SWV-ZFE) wil niet koppelen met Zigbee2MQTT + SMLIGHT SLZB-MR3U

Hi,

I’m trying to pair a SONOFF Hydro ONE BSP (SWV-ZFE) with Zigbee2MQTT, but the device is completely invisible during pairing.
Setup:

  • Home Assistant
  • Zigbee2MQTT 2.14.1
  • Frontend 2.15.0
  • zigbee-herdsman-converters 26.105.0
  • zigbee-herdsman 10.9.2
  • Coordinator: SMLIGHT SLZB-MR3U
  • Radio 1: EFR32MG24, Zigbee coordinator
  • Z2M adapter: ember
  • Z2M connection: tcp://192.168.1.110:6638
  • Zigbee channel: 11
  • Coordinator IEEE: 0x00124b0038a7c036
  • EFR32 firmware: 9.0.1 [GA]

The SWV-ZFE is a new device and has not been paired with eWeLink or another Zigbee coordinator.

I have tried:

  • pairing with Permit join to Coordinator
  • putting the SWV-ZFE directly next to the coordinator
  • resetting the SWV-ZFE and putting it into pairing mode
  • multiple pairing attempts
  • restarting the EFR32 Zigbee radio on the MR3U

There is no ZHA integration and SMLIGHT Zigbee Hub mode is disabled.

The Zigbee network itself is working normally. I already have another SONOFF valve, model SWV, connected and working correctly through the same MR3U/Zigbee2MQTT setup.

The interesting part is that Zigbee2MQTT does not show any join/interview activity for the SWV-ZFE at all. There is no SWV-ZFE, interview, or device joined entry in the captured log.

The SWV-ZFE is currently supported by Zigbee2MQTT and should expose child_lock, which is one of the reasons I specifically need this model.

Question:

Does anyone know whether there is a known pairing/compatibility issue between the SWV-ZFE firmware/hardware and the EFR32MG24 used in the SMLIGHT SLZB-MR3U?

Is there a specific pairing procedure, firmware requirement, or Ember/EFR32 setting required for the SWV-ZFE to send its join request successfully?

Any suggestions for determining whether the SWV-ZFE is actually transmitting a Zigbee join request would also be very helpful.

Thank you

Additional information: I already have another SONOFF water valve, an older SONOFF SWV (not SWV-ZFE), working perfectly with the same SMLIGHT SLZB-MR3U and the same Zigbee2MQTT installation.

So this setup is already working with another SONOFF water valve. The problem appears to be specifically with getting the SWV-ZFE to join.

Any ideas what could prevent the SWV-ZFE from sending or completing its Zigbee join request would be greatly appreciated.

Are you sure the SWV-ZFE is in pairing mode? Is the green LED slow-flashing after inserting batteries or pressing the button for ~5s?

If there is nothing in the Z2M logs, then the SWV isn’t actually attempting to pair.

You might want to take a look at this. There were some issues with the device a month ago. Maybe whatever changed is the cause of your SWV not pairing. Looks like you’re gonna have to wait till next month for the PR to be merged in if that’s the case.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Yes, the SWV-ZFE was definitely in pairing mode (slow-flashing green LED), and I tested it multiple times directly next to the coordinator with permit join enabled.

I also tested the exact same device with a CC2674P10 / Z-Stack coordinator. It joined immediately, completed the interview.

With the EFR32MG24 / Ember coordinator, however, there is no join event at all in the Z2M debug log.

I’ll have a look at #12891 as well. From what I understand, that issue is mainly related to the converter/exposes and configuration handling rather than the initial pairing itself, but it’s certainly worth checking whether the recent SWV-ZFE changes are related.

Current workaround: the SWV-ZFE pairs and works normally with the CC2674P10 / Z-Stack coordinator.
