Sonoff NS-PanelPro alternatives

When I installed my Philips Hue lights, I removed the hardware switches.
To cover up the hole, I glued the Hue dimmer switch (on its side) over it, hoping to replace it one day with something more permanent.

Over the years, everything got aggregated/concentrated/… on my HA installation.

I recently replaced that dimmer switch, using the NSPanelPro 120, following these instructions.

This works (reasonably) well, and looks a lot neater, however there are some downsides.

  • As the panel seems to get rather warm when always one, I have it set to turn off the screen after 30s. Yet another black mirror on the wall
  • As there are no hardware buttons, turning off the lights requires waking up the screen and finding the correct tile on the dashboard. Turning on the lights in the dark is even harder (worked around using an automation using the proximity sensor and the sun integration though)

So I was looking for an even better solution, with the following requirements

  • Powered by mains
  • EInk display that can be always on and display an HA dashboard
  • One or more hardware buttons that can trigger an automation/scene/…

I recently saw some coverage on the TRMNL dashboard, which seems nice, but does not exactly fit my needs.

Any ideas? Thanks!
