Sonoff POW ring - DC Current

Good day everyone.

I have a 3KW solar inverter, but not a smart inverter like a Victron. So I’m trying to see if it’s possible to read the DC current and Voltage with something like a Sonoff POW ring to switch appliances when there is enough solar energy.

Is it possible or must I try a different route?

For DC current, you’ll need a shunt, not a current transformer. Something like a victron smartshunt should do the trick.

Having a look it seems like the smart shunt is just for battery monitoring, I’m looking for the output from my solar panels.

If there is only enough solar to charge the batteries, it should do that, but if there is excess I’d like it to use it for the pool pump or the fridges. (They’re already connected to the solar system and I can switch between mains and solar with home assistant switches)

I believe the victron smartshunt has a DC Energy Meter mode. I’ve never tried it though… and the information seems limited. I can check the app for that setting when the sun comes up.

Theoretically speaking, a shunt should work if properly rated for the panel output voltage/current… and wired to the panel output instead of the battery bank. But, I have not personally tried it.
