I purchased two Sonoff SNZB-03P motion sensors to trigger some lights. I’ve noticed that motion is always detected while the occupancy entity seems to work normally. Both of the new sensors are doing this. Has anyone had this behavior, and know how to fix it?
Good question. Originally “detected” was the trigger label for motion detectors as I recall. 3 years or so ago “occupancy” started to take precedence (about the time millimeter Wave or Presence Detectors started becoming available), and today I find all of my motion/presence sensors (new and old) trigger with the occupancy entity.
I’d surmise that as standards are evolving in the home automation field that’s one result, but I’m guessing. The short of it is that you should use the “occupancy” entity for a motion trigger whenever “detected” doesn’t do anything.
