Hello there!
Would anyone know if you can wire a Sonoff switch between a LED-powersupply, and a computer fan?
Or does it have to have mains-power for the input?
Thanks in advance!
power supply “looks” like this one (currently at work so don’t have specifics):

You wouldn’t be able to wire it in between as the sonoff takes AC and this outputs 12V DC.

facepalm - of course
thank you
I’ll need to think of another way to power up/down the fan

Have you thought about the Sonoff SV?
It will run off 12V DC and you can easily change it to dry contact switching.

haha - i was JUST looking at them here:

I would need it to be accessible via home-assistant though which looks like it might be the road-block (unless i’m searching the wrong terms!)

Flash it with tasmota firmware and control it via MQTT

You can run a basic from 5v DC, so just knock up a regulator to get down from 12v. Then make it dry switching and connect the 12v to the relay.
I did this with one but started with 12v AC so added a bridge rectifier before the voltage regulator.

I think that’s the ticket! thank you @bukurat
I didn’t realise the tasmota firmware works for more than just the ‘basic’ sonoff - wicked cool!
thanks!

It will with almost anything that has an esp8266 or equivalent in it.
