Sonoff/Tasmota Zigbee Bridge Pro TCPSTART 8888 unknown

Hello Everybody!
this is my first post in this community as i’m thinking about switching my smart home from openhab to home assistant.
(is there a section where i should present myself?)

obviously on my first day i’m already having some problems, but especially this one is not related home assistant but to tasmota (i thing?):

i got a “Zigbee Bridge pro” and tried to tasmotize/configure it according to these to tutorials:

so here’s what i did:

  • tasmota web installer with Tasmota32 Sonoff-ZigbeeBridgePro
  • auto config to Sonoff ZBPro TCP
  • applied template from blakadder Templates (can’t insert more than 2 links) under Configuration > Configure Other
  • flashed coordinator firmware according to notenoughtech . com

up until here everything worked out as expected…
then i tried to start up port 8888:

16:03:28.756 CMD: TCPStart 8888
16:03:28.760 RSL: RESULT = {"Command":"Unknown","Input":"TCPSTART 8888"}

i’ve tried to change the order for the steps above but in the end i always get this error…
don’t know if this helps, but according to the webinterace i’m running:
[Tasmota 14.6.0 (release-zbbrdgpro)](https://github.com/arendst/Tasmota)

any ideas where i’m going wrong?

best regards
Peter

I can’t help you much since the last time I flashed Tasmota was on the original ZBBridge, and that was over 3 years ago.

I’m assuming the part which is failing for you is the backlog rule1 on system#boot do TCPStart 8888 endon ; rule1 1 ; TCPStart 8888 command, right?
Asking because it’s almost identical to the way I set mine up, however mine had some uppercase letters and had you run the commands one at a time:

  • Rule1 ON System#Boot do TCPStart 8888 endon
  • Rule1 1
  • Restart the ZBBridge to trigger the rule (instead of issuing the TCPStart 8888 yourself)

Hopefully the above will help you.

Side note: Any particular reason why you went with this coordinator in 2025? Not only does it introduce the added hassle of having to flash the firmware yourself, it also is not particularly recommended due to having 2 wireless protocols (Wifi & Zigbee).
While I haven’t encountered any major issues with the old model, in this day & age I would go for a LAN/POE coordinator that comes pre-flashed with the correct firmware already.

yes exactly! same result with single line input…

i’ve used many tastmotized sonoff products so i thought this would be a good choice. as i struggled to get this running i’ve searched a lot and i’ve seen some threads where this particular coordinator created problems.
which LAN/POE coordinator would you recommend?

best regards

I use TubesZB LAN coordinator for my Z2M network and it’s been rock solid for me. It’s shipped from the US though, so double check if the tariff situation makes it feasible to order.

I’ve also heard good things about SMLight coordinators too. Just double check the supported adapters section for whatever ZigBee integration your running to make sure your preferred model is compatible
