Sonoff Temperature and Humidity Sensor in Home Assistant

So,

I’ve got two of these I used as a test to see if they worked in my refrigerator/freezer. (They don’t). I know I’ve had them talking to HASS. This was in August, 2024.

Another application for them has come up, so I reinstalled the HASS Add-In. It wants eWeLink account credentials.

Creating an eWeLink account requires registering in their app. Can’t be done in a browser that I can tell.

I KNOW I didn’t install an app to integrate these last time, so I’m guessing this is a new development. I have no record of account creds and I keep detailed documentation of everywhere I’m registered with.

It’s not likely that I’m going to install an app on my phone for the sole reason of creating an account. That has my spidey sense going all crazy and stuff.

Is there a way to use these two sensors without doing this?

In most cases (well…that I know of) these are Zigbee (I have two ZB temp/hum sensors from sonoff)…so if you have a HA connected zigbee dongle then you are ‘set’

But do check this, the way you posted above seems you donot have a zigbee point…and that would be needed also for ewlink…what is their model?

HASS is interviewing/configuring them as we speak (type). Very slow though.

yep…zb hints the right direction… I can remember that connecting them to a dongle may require multiple tries… I use zigbee2mqtt in the middle
