it’s just 3 weeks ago since I unboxed my HA and about one and a half when I got my first Zigbee device - so quite possibly there are some beginner mistakes in my setup. My goal is to set up a heating schedule + automation in HA to regulate a rooms temperature with Better Thermostate, combining the TRV and the external temperature sensor. But for some reason, the TRV does not open the valve when the target temperature is set to 21 degrees by HA (orange curve). The temperature just keeps dropping. It starts heating though when I set the temperature at the TRV itself (which shows the correct HA target temperature on the display when I start turning).
The devices / integrations are set up on my HA with the latest stable software versions (Jan 2026), flashed the TRV to the latest Firmware in Z2H and glued the TRV and the Sensor together into a “better thermostat” with the BetterThermostat integration and the default options.
I would be very grateful for ideas what I can try to debug the setup, as well as hints on e.g. frequent beginner mistakes, or links to good tutorials to learn how things work. Are there any known issues in the combination of hardware/software I use? Is there a better one? Could this be a commiunication problem between HA and the TRV? Or a misconfiguration of the TRV itself (it is set to manual mode, because I do not use the build-in schedule - I assume HA / BetterThermostat is also using this mode?). Are there log files I can look at do learn more what acutally happens?
