Hello All,
I’m a long time user of HA and I figured it is time to create a complete new HAOS instance, not using backups, but starting from scratch.
The old system used a Hue bridge to command a dozen of lights and switches. Migrating the switches was easy, remove them from the hue bridge or just reset and the new HAOS picked them right up, so far so good…
But then… I can’t get any of the lightbulbs in the new HAOS as, I think, the bulbs will not go into discover mode.
Here’s what I tried:
Remove the bulbs from the hue hub with the app.
→ This makes the bulbs discoverable by the bridge, not with the dongle
Tried resetting manually by on/off them 6 (even a frustrated 20) times, that should put them in discovery mode…
→ Discoverable by the bridge, not by the dongle
I read somewhere that it could be channel used by the dongle, so I changed that from ‘Smart’ to 11…
→ Nope, no sigar…
According to the docs for the LWV001, after a ‘hard’ reset with the powerswitch, it should blink twice to confirm discover mode, the blinking doesn’t happen… Yet, the hue bridge finds the bulbs in a few seconds.
I’m hoping that someone here knows how to get those bulbs into the dongle as I would really like to get rid of the hue bridge.
Just a guess here (because I don’t use smart bulbs or expensive hubs), but is the Hue Hub finding the bulbs anew or just remembering them from before? It appears to me that the bulbs are not going into the pairing mode.
I hear ya (hammer solution). I recently had to reset a slew of Hue bulbs to move them to Z2M, I have a Hue 4 button dimmer to make that easier.
HOWEVER, 3 of 15 bulbs would not reset normally. They had to be removed from power for a few seconds before the dimmer would be able to do its normal thing when they were put back. So, I’d suggest trying again. . . if in a plugged lamp, unplug it (don’t just switch it on off). I tried resetting a bulb with my own instructions and it didn’t take. I didn’t quite do the same timing that is exhibited in the video provided. Once I did, that worked.
Well… 6 of them are outside in a closed holder, opening the holders is… need to get the ladder out… Don’t really want to do that…
I could cut the entire power to the house (not with a hammer ) for a minute or so…
I have one bulb inside that I can reach, will unscrew that for a minute and see how it goes
Don’t think so as the hub is a very old v1 and the app also is the old version. I tried with the latest app but that doesn’t even find my hub and without a hub configured nothing goes…
What did the trick?
I decided to take another look at the latest Philips Hue app, and it is possible to skip the hub detection and go right to the bluetooth setup.
So, holding the phone within +/- 30 cm from the bulb, start a bluetooth scan and behold… the bulb shows up in the app, did a software update for every bulb, then a factory reset… you are not going to believe this… the dongle picked them right up! 4 done… 5 to go…
