Sonoff Zigbee 3.0 usb dongle plus how-to put in discovery

Hi,

I have the sonoff zigbee 3.0 usb dongle plus (model ZBDongle-P)
I flashed it with the router software. I need more signal in my shed.

However no matter what button i push i can’t get it in discovery mode.

I use a combi II stick for zigbee2mqt. For ZHA i use the Home Assistant SkyConnect.

anyone who can help?

Not quite an answer but I have used several Zigbee repeaters (Cheap ones from AliExpress, reflashed Sonoff Zigbee Bridge Pro reflashed with Tasmota - that was a pain and the Sonoff ZB Micro). I jsut plaster a few around the place to fully mesh the network and extend its range.

For ease I found the ZBMicro a great little device and increasingly useful as a USB switch. Even the AliExpress cheap ones have worked well. Far easier and not worth the effort in reflashing devices from my experience.

When I need more I will be purchasing the ZBMicro’s

Any button should work. Be sure to pair immediately after flashing for best results.

What chipset is the combi II stick based on ? Never heard of it.

thanks for your answer.

Which Zigbee router(s) do you use.

Flashing my Sonoff zigbee dongle was not a succes

Hi,

I’ve got no clue. I copied the hardware info from HA hopefully the info is in there what you need.

Ah, a Conbee II

For me, it would make more sense to use the Sonoff as a coordinator instead of the Conbee II

i use the conbee II as coordinator for zig2mqtt
and the

After flashing the router firmware to the ZBDongle-P, you need to keep holding the Boot button, then press the RST button once, and finally release the Boot button.

The Dongle will enter pairing mode when the green light starts flashing.

Bookmarked this post for future reference.

The best way I have found of doing this is to put your thumbnail on the BOOT button then roll it onto the RST button (so BOOT and RST held at same time) then roll off the RST button, then off the BOOT button.

Once you’ve done it a few times it gets easy

This is a great idea—you can complete the entire process with just one flexible thumb.
