I once bought this device to support the community and have a Matter ready device.
So times goes by and I just use the mode for Zigbee only and this works for Zigbee devices so far.
now I just want to know if this hybrid mode actually works and Zigbee/Matter can be used both so I can buy Matter devices.
One year ago I was very disappointed. The dongle did not worked right, just in matter or zigbee mode and the MobileApp on F-Droid couldn’t be used to add Matter devices, same for the Play Store app.
I couldn’t understand an App only working on iPhones.
If you wanted to support the community you should have bought a Skyconnect/ZBT-1. Sonoff is a commercial vendor that has no ties with the Open Home Foundation or Nabu Casa.
Multi-protocol is not advised, so if you want to use Zigbee and Thread you want to buy a second dongle.
Thanks for the answer, I’m more interested in a technical answer than an opinion.
Buying Sonoff, which’s hardware is flashable with tasmota is supporting the community, maybe not the small one have have kept in mind.
It’s not buying productlines for Philips Hue, Alexa or that stuff. So thanks for your answer not negating my sentence.
if you don’t own a stick like mine your answer is not helpful. It was said, that the dualmode for Zigbee and Matter is possible. Thats why I Bought Zigbee devices.
The question was, if multi protocol works now, not if its advised.
The only message is need is, the Zigbee devices are not flashable to matter and when changing the stick to matter, the zigbee devices no longer are detected.
According to Sonoff, it is working. According to Nabu Casa, it is not working, and the core HA developers deprecated the multiprotocol add-on.
So make up your own mind.
For me personal this means don’t touch matter devices as i know the matter detector also only works on iPhones and not with a custom rom or f-droid version, when I want to stay on HA.
