Sonoff Zigbee Dongle has stopped working

Zigbee has been working fine for months and suddenly I have started gettting the following error:

Error setting up entry Sonoff Zigbee 3.0 USB Dongle 3.0 - /dev/serial/by-id/usb-ITead_Sonoff_Zigbee_3.0_USB_Dongle_Plus_2a766a3563c9eb1188628d4f1d69213e-if00-port0

I became aware of the problem when I tried to add a zigbee device, a smart switch. The device could not be seen. After a restart, I realised ZHA hadn’t loaded correctly.

I am running HA on a NAS under HAOS.

I have tried:

  • Deleting and reinstalling ZHA

  • Deleting zigbee.db before reinstalling

  • Removing the aerial and restarting

I have read everything I can find on the forum but cannot find a solution.

In desperation I have updated to the very latest version of HA. I was hoping that a bug had been corrected. Now HA is behaving differently and the Zigbee Dongle is not being auto-discovered any more.

My HA versions are:

Home Assistant Core 2022.6.7
Home Assistant Supervisor 2022.05.3
Home Assistant OS 8.2

Help!

Possibly faulty?

Since you are using /serial/by-id/ it’s unlikely the port has changed, but I would login via SSH and run

ha hardware info | more

and see if the OS can at least see it.

What firmware version are the Sonoff dongle. 20220219 is latest. Maybe a problem if it is very old?

Well done khvej8, you have solved the problem. I didn’t know what firmware version I had but I now have the latest. Everything has come back to life.
