I was also trying the Spotify Connect plugin as a device along with a Google AIY I have installed on a Raspberry Pi 3B. That is sort of working, but I cannot figure out how to increase the device volume. When I try on a Spotify app, I can only hear when I put the volume at maximum, but it sounds over driven and distorted.
Check out the SpotifyPlus Integration; it can do everything that the HA Spotify integration can do, supports Spotify Connect enabled devices (Bose, Sonos, Google Chromecast, Amazon Alexa, Denon, JBL, and more), and provides 95+ custom services that can be used in HA automations and scripts. It also has 10 voice assistant intents that allow you to control the player, play content, manage favorites, etc - all with your voice.
There is also a SpotifyPlus Card user-interface that allows you to control the player, manage your Spotify favorites, as well as search the Spotify catalog. You have to install the SpotifyPlus integration first though, and get it configured before you can use the SpotifyPlus Card.
Both are easily installed via HACS.

You can remove the HA Spotify integration if you like, or just disable it - it does not matter. Note that you have to setup another HA Application Credential though, using the same client id / secret that you used for the HA Spotify App. Spotify only allows you to create a single credential now (after their February 2026 changes).
At some point the redirect URL used by HA changed from having auth/external/callback in it, to redirect/oauth.
Go to your Spotify developer dashboard and check configuration for the “app” that you use with Home Assistant.
