I wouldn’t recommend HA to a technical person. This chap, for example, is doomed. He’s about to take the leap into HA, having already written his “own protocol and Arduino mesh network of 53-nodes”. It’ll end in tears.
The ideal HA beginner is someone who will follow instructions methodically without attempting shortcuts, and look something up if they don’t understand it.
