Stove hood fan trigger cooking sensor

Hello fellow automation obsessed peoples… I have an over the stove microwave with incorporated hood fans which is a 2 feet above the stove - I am looking for a steam/heat/smoke sensor I can put on the underside of the microwave that will trigger the microwave hood fan when I start cooking. The microwave is LG with the LGIQ so I can control the fan via HA. I’ve spent a great deal of time searching for such a sensor but have not come up with anything thus far…
Has anybuddy seen such a Home Assistant compatible sensor?

TIA,
j

Try a PM2.5 sensor.
Mine tend to register when I start cooking.

Investigating…

I used a cheap smoke alarm (was able to connect/read the analog sensor it uses) and a temp sensor. I assumed grease, etc. would foul it up but it’s been working fine for years.

Research leads me to believe an Aqara smoke detector might do the trick - but finding one… :anguished:
