I have the Neatmo weather station, the wind meter, rain gauge and temperature / humidity and its working great as it is, but its battery based, so will go empty, and its not easy to mount high enough to get a proper reading of wind etc.
Anyone have some suggestions about some system with zwave, zigbee, blutooth, even rf since its just for update signal.
It need to be local and not require to use cloud services
I have a GW1102. the wifi gateway is USB powered, sensors are battery or combo solar/battery. Still on the first set of batteries for all sensors after 2.5 years.
Not sure your geo domain, so not sure if this would work. That said first, 2nd it is a bit ‘spendy’, however I have been very pleased with my Tempest setup. Definitely pro-sumer and set and don’t have to mess with device.
Well that SUX! You might reach out to them and say you would be a great EU ‘ambassador’ and you have 's and a big following… I mean other than the power brick that came with the receiver unit (and it is USB) what is more generic than ‘weather’… wtf…
Hope you find something useful for you. As one of my fav movie quotes said (Real Genius) ‘Do you think it’s getting weird around here?’
I’d reach out to them first and put the (screw) on them for a availability date, but if that yields let me know if I can help. I’ve always enjoyed for many many years when someone told me ‘well that’s not available in your area.’, me : ‘oh really. but i can buy it here and now?’
I second the Tempest, if available in your area. We have it and are using it for several things around the house. It has a built in lightning detector. When detected (or when it starts raining), it turns off our pool equipment. The UV detector adjusts an Inovelli switch to reflect the current UV conditions. The light detector is used to turn on landscape lighting.
I also have weatherflow tempest here in Australia. I love it. Has been very reliable, solar powered, great integration into HA. Perhaps not the fastest at updating some data, like “is it raining right now”, but overall it’s great. Was shipped to me from the US.
