Suggestions for cameras - outdoor and indoor

Hi folks,

I am looking into cameras, both inside and outside. Which ones do you have and why?

For outside, I would love to have Wi-Fi solar powered cameras that fit into homeassistant.does not need to be permanently

For inside, I would love to have POE or at least network, And motion detection. Does not need to be fancy, but rather cheap as I want a couple. Do you have your camera 24 /7 running? This kind of fears weird inside. Would love to combine it with a sensor that checks whether my phones are in the Wi-Fi. Or something else

100% no and expect anything recorded on an indoor camera to be viewed by the public. I see this like sexting. It’s private until it’s not.

Also, you can turn them off but they still accidentally (or intentionally) get left on.

I will cover every square inch of
Exterior With cameras but need a seriously good use case or extreme threat of danger for indoor.

well, I would want to see if someone is in my place if i am not home. So I’d love to have an availability detection in HA that sets up the cameras. Both indoor and outdoor. Any thoughts?

Outdoor record 24/7 if possible
Indoor you can use presence sensor like phone tracker to detect home/away

I cover all entries with camera. Impossible to approach home with being on camera. Except underground or parachute but that is extreme. Indoor motion determines if person inside but they should be on outside camera so I will know who but not what they doing.

A Bluetooth tracker on keychain

When it’s not in your home, it means you are not at home. Generally you may combine multiple like

Your phone send location to HA and you add zones. This will tell HA that you are “home”, “work”, “school” or other based on the zones that you create.

But what if that’s wrong for some reason?

You also have a Bluetooth tracker on your keychain. When Ha cannot see that it is confirmation you are “away” but if it see ble tracker, maybe it presumes the phone is correct.

Whatever happens is based on the automation you can create to

Turn On Alarm when phone is “not home” for 5 minutes but only if ble tracker is “away”
OR
Send notification asking “would you like to Turn ON alarm” if ble tracker is “away” and phone is “home”. In this case maybe you forgot phone or maybe ble battery died. If you forgot phone maybe you get notification on second device to confirm.

The most important thing is how you integrate them and make them available to watch.

Hi, sorry for asking again. I found some older posts but they all do not seem to work here.

I am in Germany, southern Germany, running an avm Fritz box and two newer iPhones. Taking the WiFi login from the phones in fritztools but this does not update regularly. At the moment, one is 5hrs old, the other 2 days. And sometimes seems to be exactly the other way around. Gone when I am at home etc.
the data in the FRITZ!box is correct…

Any thoughts?
