Support for Nuki Keypad 2.0 NFC

Today, the Nuki Keypad 2.0 NFC was released, which supports the Aliro standard. According to the description, it has a Smart Home mode that requires a Matter Hub.

Am I correct in understanding that a huge dream is now coming true, and we finally have a decent device (not a DIY one) that allows us to run automations via Home Assistant after successful authentication?

My scenario is as follows: Every sensible person should have an alarm system. However, if you have an alarm system, you can’t use a smart door lock in a smart way, because as soon as my front door is opened and the alarm system was armed, the alarm is triggered. No one in their right mind wants an alarm system that can only be deactivated from the inside, giving you a XX-second window to do so. That’s inconvenient, and the burglar would be inside and would have the chance to destroy the alarm system or at least steal something while making a quick getaway. My only solution for opening my front door smartly and simultaneously deactivating the alarm is via the outdoor keypad of my alarm system. I use it to disarm the alarm, and the alarm control panel then triggers Home Assistant via a web request to open the front door. However, the keypad is outdated. I want to be able to get in quickly using my fingerprint, HomeKey, etc.

If Home Assistant now supports Matter, and Aliro is an open standard, and the new Keypad 2.0 NFC requires a Matter Hub, then I understand correctly that the keypad doesn’t directly open the smart lock via Bluetooth, but rather uses Matter to report successful authentication, and the Matter Hub then opens the door? So, should all of this soon be possible via Home Assistant? Are there any plans for this, or is it already feasible if I buy the keypad?

You can do this with the old Nuki keypad - it doesn’t require Aliro. Add the Nuki to HA with the MQTT integration then use this guide to add authenticated fingerprint as an automation trigger.
