So, not entirely HA related but kind of,
This is my wall tablet, a Surface 3 and it works absolutely perfectly, when it works. I had it installed and working fine for ages, then I had to move it. Every time this thing is moved or unplugged, its a nightmare to get it going again.
The issue is, charging. It just wont charge. The charger port is a MicroUSB and with it plugged in, it just continues to run until flat.
Ive tried different power supplied (5v) and also regulators (12v to 5v) step down to ensure I am able to provide the current requirements, still not luck.
It seems with the surface switched off, I get a consistent 200mA +/- draw. When I switch it on, it peaks to about 1A just after booting but then quicky reduces back down to 50mA. This is not sufficient to keep the tablet charged and running. I’m not sure what else to try. Sometimes, it can stay at about 1A for 1 - 2 minutes, but always reverts back to 50mA.
Any ideas?
