Swiss Earthquakes (SED)

Swiss Earthquakes (SED)

Swiss Earthquakes (SED) — live earthquake tracking on the HA map

Shows recent Swiss earthquakes on your Home Assistant map, sourced from the official Swiss Seismological Service (SED, ETH Zurich) FDSN Event Web Service.

What it does

  • One geo_location entity per currently tracked earthquake within your configured radius/time window — appears automatically on any Map card, magnitude shown right on the marker
  • sensor.sed_earthquakes_count_<radius>km — count of earthquakes in range, with the strongest current event and a plain-language magnitude-scale reference as attributes
  • sensor.sed_earthquakes_latest_<radius>km — timestamp of the most recent quake, so you can trigger automations reliably
  • Sets up its own dashboard automatically on first install — a full map view with magnitude labels, zero manual card configuration needed

Coverage is Switzerland + immediate border regions (that’s the actual extent of the SED’s own ~150-station network). Multi-language (DE/EN/FR/IT), including the magnitude-scale explanations.
