Switchbot bot + shelly 2pm gen3 + home assistant: would it work?

Hello,

I am tring to understand how I can retrofit two dumb appliances so that I can control them from HA.

My idea is to actuate them with a switchbot bot each.

I am trying to understand if I can actuate the switchbot bots using a shelly 2pm gen3 as bluetooth proxy (the shelly would be nice, because I could read the power consumptiom to determine when the appliances are done).

So far, I read that the shelly does not create active connections, but I am not able to understand if with passive bluetooth connections I can use HA to send commands to the bots.

Moreover, are active connections necessary? I would like to avoid depleting the batteries every few days/weeks.

Can you please help me understand?

Thank you.

A passive connection is just that: passive, listening. If you need to do something, like operate a bot, you need to send data, so active. Buying an usb powered esp instead of the Shelly as the bluetooth proxy will get you that for three simultaneous active connections.

Thank you for your feedback. I am trying to minimize the number of power converters, from mains to 5V for USB.

Is there an alternative to the shelly, performing power metering, bluetooth proxy and being controllable locally? I onyl know about the switchbot 2pm relay, but to control it locally I would need a hub in any case, thus I would not be niminizing the number of units and power suppliers.
