Switchbot Circulator Standing Fan

Hi all
Yesterday my switchbot Circulator Standing Fan arrived, having watched several videos on YouTube I was expecting to only have on and off control via matter, which switchbot said was all they were prepared to expose but it seems they have added more functionality since those videos were filmed.

I have on, off, preset and speed control on home assistant and Google home.

However, there appears to be a bug. I can control preset, speed and turn the fan off via matter. I cannot however turn the fan on. It can only be turned on via the Switchbot app. I have tried just turning it on with no additional parameters and turning it on and sending a speed or preset at the same time.

I have emailed Switchbot support to see what they say, because the videos from YouTube when they only had access to on and off control and nothing else, it turned on and off perfectly fine via matter.

I also post here though, to see if anyone else has this fan and has encountered the same behaviour.

Cheers.

Hey,

Hope you're doing well. Did you ever get a response from SwitchBot? I'm experiencing the exact same issue with Home Assistant.

I can turn the fan off via Matter, but I can't turn it back on using the power switch. However, if the fan is off and I set the speed to, say, 25%, it turns on correctly at 25%.

What's even stranger and what makes me think this is a SwitchBot Matter issue is that I added it to Apple Home via Matter as well, and I'm seeing a very similar problem there.

In Apple Home, I can turn it on using the power button, but whenever I do, it always starts at 100% speed, even if it was turned off at 30% or 45%. The Home app briefly shows the previous speed for about a second, then it jumps to 100%.

So it really seems like the Matter "On" command isn't behaving correctly.

Hey, yeah they fixed the not being able to turn it on at all with v1.3.0 but it still can't be turned on unless you send a speed command or preset with the on command. Be thankful it works in Apple Home, in Google Home since the v1.3.0 update, the on / off switch and presets have vanished. There is now just a slider which you can use to turn the fan on at whatever speed you choose - but now to turn the fan off you have to slide the speed down to 0% and it's really fiddly. It's great in Home assistant though.

Switchbot said they would get back to me, but then the ticket was closed because if you don't say anything for 2 days they ask if the ticket can be closed and then close it. If you try to respond and say the problem isn't fixed yet, they say you have to send feedback via the app and include videos and photos - every time.
