I have put a small automation system at my mom’s house just to see if she is getting around. She is 91 years old and living alone, like she wants to. But I would like to know she has gotten up, eaten. Basicly is she alive. For years i just log into her system and see if her tv is on and bedroom light had cycled within the past 13 hours. I finally desided that i want my house automation to tell me if there is no activity. We are both have on-line systems so why cant they talk securly over the internet.

Setup a simple automation on her end with a webhook to nubacasa and set up a more complicated than required package on my side. Now, and its still growing, i have a decorative light at my house mimic her bedroom light and my dashboard monitors a heartbeat from her system with warnings and time since last monitored activity. Her new refrigerator has a door open sensor, monitored for( did she eat). Phone plugged in once a day. Tv power use, cycling, light power use cycling. Only one automatic light activity witch currently could cause a single false activity is 1 hour before sunset her bedroom light turns on.
