In the device editor screen, if the cursor is at the end of a line, (far right) and the tab key is pressed, the whole line moves to the right. Not just the cursor.
Why is that?
Cursor at the end of line 98.
After tab key pressed.
Probably because it makes it easier to indent lines, which is a common need in YAML, whereas adding a tab to the end of a line has no practical purpose.
The “Edit in YAML” options for the Automation and Script editors and the Template Editor tool have the same behavior… so it could just be about consistency within the platform.
I don’t agree. I was adding a comment at the end of the line and used the tab key, instead of pressing the space bar 20 times. (Well, a lot more than pressing the tab key).
If I wanted to tab the whole line, I’d put the cursor at the beginning of the line.
So. it still makes no sense to me.
Do not use tabs in YAML. Tabs are strictly not allowed in YAML so the developer is free to use the key for other things as they see fit in the editor.
Ahhhh…
That answers it then.
Thanks.
