an exact match for my use case.
I'm looking for a tablet to use as a permanent Home Assistant dashboard
on my desk. My main requirements are:
Android (preferably, but open to suggestions) 10-11 inch display, touch Dedicated charging dock/station — ideally wireless so no visible cables Always-on capability without damaging the battery Google Play support (no sideloading) Compatible with Fully Kiosk Browser
I noticed someone mentioned using an Amazon Fire Tablet with a wireless
charging stand — is that a common solution? Any experience with battery
longevity when always docked?
I'm also open to suggestions like:
Tablet + universal wireless charging stand combos
Dedicated smart home panels with built-in dock
Any other creative solutions the community has found
When it comes to the battery health when it comes to setups like this what most do is to have the health setting kick in with android to limit charging if docked for too long and to use smart plugs to disable charging via the dock until its below a battery level threshold.
I don't use a tablet at my desk but have my phone and have a choetech wireless charger at both the desk and my bedside at the moment. I also use a streamdeck xl for all my main toggles I want to quick access when at the PC.
Hi, if such a ready-to-use device exists, you will probably see it in the bill.
Controlled charging can be managed by recent mobile OS's or worst case, you could use a smart plug so up to here, you could use just any tablet of your liking/$$$.
Wireless charging: I don't think that there are that many tablets that support it but there are kits to make this possible but if it's just for the aesthetics, you are better off by using an angled USB cable which is almost not visible + this is more efficient.

dedicated charging dock using pogo pins (or similar contact-based
connector) — like the old Lenovo Smart Tab M10 FHD Plus had with
its Smart Charging Station.
No wireless charging needed, just a clean dock where I can drop
the tablet without plugging any cables. Does anything like this
still exist in 2026?
You're gonna struggle to find a ready made desk dock which meets your requirements. Most docks are aimed at wall mounting.
However, it shouldn't be too hard to 3d print one (or find a service that does). The pogo pins on tablets are usually just 5v & ground. Any additional pins are for data which you probably won't need.
Alternatively, get a magnetic usb cable & hide it in the dock design. It's "wireless" charging without the inefficiency.

By the way, I also have a Raspberry Pi 3B+ sitting unused — does anyone
know of a 10" touch display with an integrated case/enclosure that fits
the Pi 3B+ on the back? Ideally something that works well as a permanent
HA dashboard kiosk. Happy to go the DIY route if needed!
My personal recommendation is to leave it unused. It's not suitable for this project. Only 1GB RAM, no official support for "regular" Android & no Google Play store & possibly no FKB.
Save yourself the hassle & the money & get a tablet with at least 2GB of RAM.

Would the Lenovo Tab Plus 11.5" be a good fit for this use case,
or is it overkill? I like that it has built-in speakers and a large
display, but I'm not sure if it's worth it just for a HA dashboard.
Not 100% sure, but I think I have that exact same model. Bought it specifically for a HA dashboard project, but life got in the way. Haven't set up HA on it in the 2 years I've had it.
It's a pretty decent tablet, even when you're not using it as a dashboard. Sound & screen are great & it's pretty responsive. If it's in your budget, go for it
