Tado Internet Bridge

I have a Tado Smart Thermostat which is paired to the Tado Internet Bridge. I currently control this with the Tado app. Is there a way to completely bypass the need for the app and add Tado directly to HA? If so is the Internet Bridge still needed? will it be truly local or will it rely on some sort of cloud API integration with Tado itself?

Thank you

You can use the tado devices via homekit instead, but I think you still need the internet bridge plugged in, because I think thats the hub that communicates to all the other devices on the tado ‘network’ in your home. Also, not all devices entities are exposed via homekit (such as hot water control), but that might not matter for you.

FInally, if you are using tado X products, you can integrate them via matter and have local control, so the advice above is for the v3 products.

Thank you. I’ve also read that best option is to pair the bridge as a HomeKit device then home assistant will be able to control it locally through the Tado bridge.
