Tailscale stopped working (not expired)

Hi Folks,
I´ve installed and configured the Tailscale-App.
Setup the account and set the expiration to be disabled.
To secure it a bit, I activated MFA for HAOS.

It worked right from the start since April 30th. on several devices in-& outside my home network.
Today I could not reach my instance and checked everything:
The HA Tailscale Log shows succesful communication. On Tailscale side it says "connected".
The last Endpoint is my WAN-IP from my router.
So from my point of view, everything seems fine.

I did not change any setting on any side. The external URL on the mobile Apps was not touched either. And does not work in a browser.
What I could see on the Edge was at least:
DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN

This seemed to be a problem on tailscales-side. Or it is getting blocked somehow?! My router did not have stated a firewall log.

Did someone else encountered something similar?
Or am I the only one :innocent:

Looks like I have the same issue

Then follow my very long action plan:

  • Wait a whole day and it accidentally starts working again :man_shrugging:

Cannot tell if it was related to network/provider/router/tailscale problems or just a regular hickup.

I need to update to myself:
Yesterday evening it also stopped working again.

This does not seem to be really reliable. Sitting at home, next to my WiFi, Tailscale is working great! Leaving the home, where I need it, not so well :face_with_peeking_eye:

Right now, still no connection. Even when Tailscale tells me anything is fine and connected.

As far as I understand, Tailscale is based on Wireguard?

So why not use the real thing?
Some routers (Fritzbox for example) even come with it pre-installed.
All you have to do there is point your phone at a QR-code - done.

With wireguard I had 100% availability for the last 3 years or so.
And it all lives on your hardware - no third party involved!

Hi Frank,
good point!
I just found a tutorial to use Tailscale for free and easily integrate it in HomeAssistant.
That´s why :man_shrugging:

My router might support Wireguard directly. In combination with DynDNS.
But at least, I only want to access my HA from WAN :face_with_peeking_eye: No private rerouting or accessing other network components.

I´ll need to research a bit...
