Tapo camera unreliable firmware

Tapo camera unreliable after updating firmware. The last two updates made things bad.
At least twice a day randomly 3-4 of 13 cameras are always cycling offline and back on making the HA tapo integration mostly unstable and useless because it can’t be counted on to be connected.
Has anyone had the same experience?

1.3.1

It is certainly not unheard of with any of the less expensive cameras. Also applies to Reolink (and many others). You may buy them and get lucky (and everything works fine) or you may not. But this is why Frigate project (for example) recommend slightly more expensive (but much nicer) cameras.

Just some food for thought. There is no “right” answer here.

Thanks, guess I just wanted to know how many people have the same problems… When I first got the tapo cameras they were bullet proof. I suspect if I downgrade the firmware again things will be fine.

It sounds to me like your gut intuition is probably right. And someone may come along with some more specifics.

I also just read you are using the Tapo integration. Most of the recommended cameras also support standardized protocols (and implement them correctly to spec). Just something to keep in mind maybe next time you need to add (or replace) another camera.
