Tapo device problems after firmware update

My tapo P300 smart plug is not getting discovered and also has problems connecting if I try to add manually via IP. There was a firmware change lately, but strangely enough, other devices work, I have problems just with this plug.

  • I tried to delete and re-add the plug in the Tapo app, but it does not help.
  • Plug works fine in native Tapo app and even Google Home.

I am running out of ideas on what to do, any hints would be appreciated. Thank you!

There are several other threads here and elsewhere that offer potential solutions, like turning the third-party accessibility option on/off in the Tapo app, but none of them worked for me.

I ended up buying the power strip that connects via Matter and paired it directly with HA (i.e. didn’t use the Tapo app) and it’s working fine.

So I guess this is broken until the library gets fixed. It’s strange to me that other devices worked with the 3rd-party toggle. That’s a great fallback, thank you!

edit: I tought my plug is matter enabled, but it isn’t apparently. oh well

Not 100% if HA uses python-kasa library. I found this issue thread and it is being worked on apparently, so that’s a good sign…

Still broken… If the Tapo firmware update broke it, would there ever be a HA Integration fix for this or would it have to be a future firmware update?
