From time to time, my Tesla Powerwall integration’s entities all show “unavailable.” I’ve checked my network configuration, and the Tesla Backup Gateway does indeed have a static IP that is on the same subnet as my HA Green hub. Is there something I can do to fix this?
I regularly see exactly the same thing on my Powerwall 2. Mine is only connected via Ethernet and on a fixed IP address.
I’ve set up an automation that as soon as the Powerwall goes unavailable it runs nmap to interrogate the IP address directly, nmap will tell you whether it responds to ICMP, whether the port is open, whether http is up. The Powerwall is always reported as offline so I don’t think it’s a home assistant issue but the Powerwall actually going offline. Trouble is Tesla doesn’t support what we’re doing so there’s no support. I have found hitting the reset switch in the gateway sometimes clears it for a few days but it may just be coincidence.
The most annoying aspect is that the integration changes values like charge level to zero rather than just setting it unavailable, this means the data ends up full of zeros…keep meaning to raise a problem report…
Mine will report that all entities are unavailable for, perhaps, 30 minutes, and then all is suddenly well. My Tesla app functions normally, however, so I’m not sure what’s going on. I’m considering trying one of the other integrations like Teslemetry, but those require a subscription.
