I really enjoyed having my Tesla integrated with Home Assistant, using it for various automations and displaying important data on my dashboard. When Tesla announced their official API, I was glad to see it was initially free for home automation purposes. However, with the recent changes, access now costs about $12 per month per vehicle, so I started looking for alternative solutions.
One option I found is Teslamate, which I was already using. Teslamate still relies on the unofficial API and supports exporting data to MQTT, which can be imported into Home Assistant. I really like this Script for importing. This setup allows you to retain read access to a wide range of vehicle data.
