Thunderstorm / Power Cut has wiped out my devices

Well it might sound a bit over-dramatic, but we had a thunderstorm here in England this afternoon.

We had a powercut - which does happen in our area every so often. But usually a reboot of my Intel NUC will reload Home Assistant and everything loads up fine.

But this time I've got issues:

  • Drayton Wiser Heating Controls - all disconnected and I'm struggling to get re-connected (trying to avoid a hard reset)

  • Same with Shelley EM device

  • Same with Kasa devices (smart plugs)

  • Same with Tuya and Local Tuya devices (smart bulbs etc)

It's not that they don't show up in Home Assistant, but I can't get them going in the native app (e.g. Kasa app, Smart Life, Drayton app).

Any thoughts - both for fixing now and how to avoid issues like this in the future?

Thanks!

To avoid, buy a UPS, to fix, restore from backup
PS: if it just happened now, it could also be do to Network issues , to little information to analyze

How to avoid in the future:

I have mine in use since about 2 years now and it had to take over twice in that time.
Depending on how many devices (and which devices) you have hooked up, it will give you about 20 minutes until the UPS will shut down the server in a controlled way.
There is also a nifty little integration called NUT with which you can control the UPS from within HA.

I've had power flickers that basically performed a factory reset of some devices (those that need a specific power on/power off sequence).

I just had to treat them like they were brand new and re-add them to the app (if there was one) and HA.

So not a Home Assistant question.

Please use the various support channels available for those apps.
