would communicate tilt information to Home Assistant, but so far all I see in the Device Info is a single binary sensor that appears to be for vibration.
Is there any way to tease a tilt channel out of this thing? Looking through the photos it seems that the Tuya app has both vibration and tilt info.
Update: I stuck the sensor on the garage door anyway, at least I can see when it is moving, right?
Well, that was 3 hours ago, and when I opened the garage door just now the sensor is reporting âonâ while the door stands open - at least for three minutes, then went back to âoffâ after it was closed again. Maybe itâs going to work as I wanted anyway⌠more testing to come.
Iâve had good success with this zigbee device detecting the mailbox door opening and closing. You can probably get it for lower price on aliexpress (or maybe those were the old days ). It has adjustable sensitivity, good to have as I found it detects birds landing on the mailbox . As a plus it reports temperature once an hour, if nothing else this works as kind of âwatchdogâ for the device in operation .
Iâve ordered one from AliExpress that says it includes XYZ orientation sense: $5.90 delivered, all fees taxes and shipping included in that.
There was a period of a few weeks where the import duties were raising prices close to Amazon levels, but theyâre back down now - not as low as they used to be, but for instance I just got a whole pile of zigbee temp-humidity sensors for $3.99 each.
Update: even the one labeled âTuya Zigbee Smart Vibration Sensor Detection Tilt XYZ Axis Sensorâ still only produces vibration: Yes/No for home assistant as it negotiates for connection automatically.
I should have been more specific about my setup. I use Zigbee2MQTT for my Zigbee devices. After using both Zigbee2MQTT and HAâs native Zigbee solution, I have found Zigbee2MQTT far more capable. Good hunting.
