So, I’ve found a something a bit weird, maybe it’s a bug maybe not, let me explain.
After the loss of my wife a few weeks ago, I decided to pop over to China to see my Daughter, I only mention my wife because she loved HA and this was one of her automations.
At the end of the day, when we were ready for bed, she would say “I’m done” or by turning the TV off. and it would shut everything down she wanted shut down. Simple but effective.
Here is the log from using it last night.
As you can see, I went to bed at about 1am.
It then gets reset in the morning.
While I was in China, I was using the app to keep an eye on the place, etc etc, and it worked like a charm, I could see the cameras run automations it was very easy.
However, I was looking this morning on the app at the same logbook, I was actually just fiddling, and this is what I get…
Everything in HA behind the GUI is using UTC, which is a universal timezone with no summertime.
The UTC times are then converted to whatever local time your device use, when you need to see the time in the GUI.
In this case your mobile phone stayed on China time and therefore kept showing China times in the GUI.
If you looked at another device showing another timezone, then that GUI would show the times for that timezone.
Thanks WallyR and I get what you are saying. but the phone wasn’t on China time, it dropped out of that the minute I turned it on at the airport, and then Sunday it went back an hour for BST, so come Monday it should of been all up to speed, but the logs were still showing China time… It’s not a biggy, a restart sorted it, but just thought I would mention it.
