TP-LINK Switch on Remote Network

I have a bunch of TP-Link Switches and Plugs that all work great with Home Assistant. I have a plex server running at my buddies house that i pay for him to host because he has a gigabit connection, but I like to track the power usage of my server so I make sure i’m paying him for the electricity it is using. Anything local to my network the tp-link stuff works great, but since he’s on a separate network I’m not sure how i can add this smart outlet to my Homeassistant instance. I’ve been able to add the Plex Tracker component by running DuckDNS and then for port using a port forward that hass uses to see 32400. However with the tp-link component I don’t see a way to put a port on the device, and when I do

  • platform: tplink
    host: duckdns:portforward
    name: “Plex Server”

It doesn’t work. Anyone have any idea’s on how to do the port forward for this?
