We have several lights in our apartment that can be turned off manually.
It then takes a very long time (several hours) for the state of the entity to change to “unavailable.”
This is a problem because I monitor energy consumption via the Powercalc integration.
If a light is turned off manually, the last state of the entity remains for a very long time, and Powercalc continues to count the energy.
In the ZigBee integration, there is an option to adjust the time until the state changes to “unavailable.”
Unfortunately, I haven’t found such an option in the Tradfri integration.
- Don’t cut power to smart lights.
- Switch to the direct ZigBee integration instead of Tradfri if you’re gonna ignore step 1.
My wife won’t follow the first point.
The second point is a good idea. But I don’t really want to lose the ability to control the lights via Alexa, even if HA isn’t available.
Is the Philips HUE Bridge perhaps an alternative? Does anyone know how it behaves when the lights are turned off manually?
