Transferring Installation from MMC to SSD?

I’ve got HA running on a Raspberry Pi 3, with the installation on a MMC.

I’m concerned that although I chose a good quality MMC, suitable for repeated read/write cycles, It may eventually give problems.

I’m considering getting a USB SSD and running HA off it, but am not sure how to carry out the operation. Has anyone done this and can advise, please?

hi Jim
i’have SSD 250GB Crucial and USB adapter in RPi 3
work like a charm!!

It is also possible to move from one data disk to another: Simply connect another disk, and go to the Move data disk dialog again. On reboot, the data will be moved and the old data disk can be detached. You can find the move data disk feature under Settings > System > Storage in the top right overflow menu.

Thanks for the reply ‘Emiliano’.

I hadn’t spotted the ‘Migrate’ feature. Does the process do any writing to the existing MMC? Are there any ‘gotchas’? I want to be able to revert in case it goes wrong!
Jim

don’t write to SD card, read only

you can revert and go back from SSD to SD and vice versa.
