Hey, I’ve been running HA for a couple of years at home and love it. I’m about to start a new job and will be travelling regularly. I’ve been thinking about having a travelling smart kit that I can setup in a hotel room etc while I’m away. I’ve search the forum and online and couldn’t find anywhere that has ideas on what to use. So, I thought I’d start something here and see if anyone’s doing something similar and/or what people’s thoughts are.
To start off, I already have a GL.inet router and a spare raspberry pi. I’m considering a HomePod mini for listening to music and maybe some voice control (basic on/off, set brightness etc). Ideally, I’d like to have some motion lighting (at night to see to get to the bathroom etc). I don’t like the thought of a Zigbee dongle (I have one but don’t want to damage it packing and unpacking) but could do thread via the HomePod mini. I want some lights to control brightness and colour. I’ll have phone/tablet with me that can be a dashboard if needed.
I’m keen to hear what people have tried, good and bad, and any thoughts or ideas.
