Or at least the attempt to install it made it useless. HA still shows it as alive/asleep, but it no longer reports anything. This is a ZWA005 by Aeotec Ltd.
Is removing the device from HA and adding it back likely to fix this?

I just did the update on my trisensor. After you hit the update button in HA, did you go to the device and press the button next to the battery for a few seconds to actually wake it up? I had to do that to get the actual update to go thru.
After that tho, it’s reporting just fine - temp, lux and motion. I will note that I now have a bunch of diagnostic sensors that appear but are unavailable - odd ones too. (“Fluid is low” and “Used as backup”. Head-scratchers.)
Couldn’t really hurt to remove and re-add, but I would first make sure that the actual update actually updated.
I initially just tried letting it go, but after a long while realized I needed up wake it. When I did that, it just never completed. By which I mean hours passed.
I’ll try removing and re-adding.
My unit hung during the process and didn’t complete the update. But when I checked on it some time later, it had indeed finished – no longer appearing in Repairs, and showing 2.21 as firmware version.
I didn’t do anything special; I wonder if someone triggered the motion sensor, causing it to wake up.
Did it fail to report changes to status (motion/luminance, etc) to HA in the mean time?
Because that’s what mine is doing. Or not doing.
My unit looks fine after the update; reporting all entities with reasonable / expected values, and doesn’t look to have picked up any additional oddball entities.
Mine didn’t report while it was “updating”. Started up again after the update. And mine was in limbo for about 15-20 minutes. (Thought I borked it.)
Think I’m screwed. I’m already an hour in to a third try at updating and no discernible progress.
Worse, when I tried to remove it from my z-wave network, it didn’t.
Well, somehow, some combination of button presses got it to receive the firmware update. the Cyan light flashed for about a half hour (!) and the sensor is reporting correctly again.
thanks everyone.
